Session Overview

This 2 hour on-demand learning content is for teachers, SAER coordinators, literacy support staff and other staff including education assistants and AIEOs. The learning content aims to build participants’ knowledge of speech sound milestones and ‘red flags’ indicating specific speech sound difficulties. Participants will be able to identify when a referral is necessary and gain an overview of strategies to assist these students in the classroom. Referral pathways for extra support in WA will be explored.
 

Aims

Participants will:
  • Explore normative development and the presentation of students with speech sound difficulties
  • Explore processes for identifying red flags for speech difficulties and initiating referral to external services
  • Explore general support strategies for classroom contexts
  • Learn about referral and support pathways for children with speech difficulties in WA.
